Dental microscope

A microscope that magnifies the working area, used especially for root canal treatment.

What it is

A dental microscope magnifies the area we work on from a few times to dozens of times and lights it directly. Details a fraction of a millimetre across become visible.

What it's used for

Above all, root canal treatment: canals are very narrow, sometimes hidden or curved, and some cracks can't be seen with the naked eye. It also helps when redoing old treatment and checking the edges of restorations.

What it means for you

In short, we see what we treat. A canal that is found and fully cleaned has a better chance of healing. For you, treatment looks the same: you sit in the chair, under local anaesthetic, and the microscope is above you, not in your mouth. More at Root canal treatment under the microscope.
