PRF (platelet-rich fibrin)

A concentrate made from your own blood, used to help healing after procedures.

What it is

PRF (platelet-rich fibrin) is made from a few tubes of your blood, spun in a centrifuge at the practice. The result is a gel or membrane that concentrates the platelets and factors your body itself uses to heal a wound.

When it is used

After extractions, with a bone graft or sinus lift, or around implants, where we want better healing of the gum and bone. We also have PRP (platelet-rich plasma) at the practice.

What to know

Because it comes from your own blood, it doesn't cause allergic reactions. Drawing the blood is like an ordinary blood test. It isn't needed in every case; we tell you in your plan when we recommend it and why.
