Clear aligners
A set of aligners worn in turn, each moving the teeth a little, without metal brackets.
What they are
Clear aligners are thin plastic trays made to the shape of your teeth. Each aligner in the set is slightly different from the one before and moves the teeth a small distance. Worn in turn, they straighten the teeth gradually, with no brackets and no wires.
When they suit
For many cases of crowding and gaps, in adults and in teenagers who wear them consistently. For some bite problems fixed braces remain the safer option; we tell you at the consultation which applies to you.
How it works here
We start from a 3D intraoral scan, with no impression paste. Before you begin, you see a simulation of how the teeth will move, so you know the result we are working towards. The aligners are worn almost all day and only come out to eat and to brush.
How long it takes
From a few months to over a year, depending on how far the teeth need to move. A retainer follows the treatment, so the teeth don't move back.
